Involve the Capitol Hill community in maintaining the historic nature of the Eastern Market and its continued viability.
Vision
On its 150th anniversary in 2023, Eastern Market will still be true to its roots as a high quality, diverse, locally owned fresh food market that is the heart of Capitol Hill.
Actions to date
- Identify current challenges to the future viability of the Market and work with merchants, vendors, government officials, community members and others to solve problems. The group’s first action was to hire a public food market expert to review the status of Eastern Market and issue a report.
- Reviving a community group to preserve and develop an authentic Eastern Market as the #1 destination in the DC area for fresh produce and quality arts and crafts.
